Artworks along the Meuse Cycle Route in Limburg

Cycling along the Meuse is more than just a scenic route. It is a voyage of discovery along water, nature, villages and art. Along the Limburg Meuse Cycle Route (EuroVelo 19), there are ten special works of art by artist Patrick Kusters. Each work is both a point of rest and an ode to the place where you are. Made of sustainable materials and designed as giant seats, they each tell their own story.

On your way? Then step off, take a seat on the artworks along the Meuse Cycle Route and look around. Below you can read what to expect at each location.

Gennep - Seats with a view

Whether you are alone or cycling with others: in Gennep there is always a place to sit. Each spot offers a beautiful view of the countryside.

Two women and a child rest at a playful artwork in the landscape, overlooking fields.

Venray - Folding chairs XL

You have almost crossed the provincial border, but these striking folding chairs invite you to stay a while longer. Extra large, nicely eye-catching and a perfect resting point by the water.

Havenstraat Maasbracht, between junctions 10 and 40

Two children climb on a large ship's helm near the harbour, with boats in the background.

Echt-Susteren - Narrowest chair

You're on the narrowest part of the Netherlands here. Fitting, then, that this seat is narrow - but big enough to take a break.

Ruitersdijk near Illikhoven, between nodes 13 and 19

A child sits with dangling legs on a large rust-brown artwork, with trees and a house on the Meuse River in the background.
